BIRD’S-EYE VIEW

A broad view or overview of something or someplace

1. This outline will give you a bird’s-eye view of my new book.
2. The flight attendant said if we sit on the right side of the airplane, we’d get a bird’s-eye view of the Grand Canyon.

The expression suggests the view that a bird gets when it f lies overhead.

Idiom: a group of words that means something different than the individual words it contains.
