I am an expert at giving an intensive course for upper intermediate students looking to reach the advanced level quickly and efficiently. Please click on the Virtual Retreat Course for more information, I guarantee that you will love the idea of reaching the Native Speaker level soon! In addition to the Virtual Retreat Course I offer a variety of other classes at a regular speed for the student who wants to take their time. It should be noted that any student who would like to work faster, that this is possible with any course. I have designed my classes in 2 ways: Intensive (2-4 weeks) guaranteeing that the student will improve 1 full level in this time or at a Regular Pace (2-3 months) also guaranteeing that the student will improve 1 full level in this time. One full level means: beginner to intermediate or intermediate to advanced, more specifically: A1 to A2, A2 to B1, B1 to B2, B2 to C1, C1 to C2, according to the global scale of measurement for language acquisition. Please read below for more course information: General Classes will focus on all of the major areas of language learning: reading, writing, listening, and speaking with a focus on grammar and vocabulary acquisition. General classes are available for all levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. These classes are highly recommended for the beginner and intermediate level students. Conversation classes will focus on improving speaking and listening skills, while focusing on correct pronunciation and fluency when speaking. Also, useful phrasal verbs and common idioms/expressions will be taught with the goal of acquiring that native speaker sound. Past students have shared that these classes are fun, thought-provoking, and that they feel ready for any real-life situation that may come their way. These classes are highly recommended for intermediate and advanced level students. Interview Preparation classes will focus on what to do and say in the interview setting and how to present oneself well. Cultural tips for interview success will be provided as well as how to present one's ideas and goals clearly to the interviewee. If needed, resume writing and cover letter help will be provided. It is important to note that I have past experience translating resumes from Spanish to English and editing resumes, cover letters, and presentations with great success. Each of my students who have taken this type of class with me have obtained the job they were always hoping for! Teacher Preparation classes are designed for non-native English teachers looking to improve their skills for their students in whatever country they are working in. I have had great success helping my fellow colleagues with understanding common expressions and idioms and complex grammar structures. These teachers then go on to impart this knowledge to their students feeling confident in their abilities. Test preparation classes will focus on the specific skills of the test: for instance I have experience teaching test preparation for the TOEFL, SAT, and ACT exams. Students walk away from these classes feeling confident, prepared, and ready for the exam. I have 10 years of teaching experience with students of all levels and ages, from children to adults, from beginners to advanced. I enjoy using the Democratic, Cambridge, and 100% English Methods, all of which utilize real life scenarios, so that my students will have success in their daily lives. I have taught in the United States school system, home school and privately (internationally and nationally) and online classes. As a bilingual person in Spanish and English, I understand the goals of the student at all levels. I too have passed through the beginner, intermediate, and advanced stages and at each level the principal goal has been to speak! Speaking is the most important goal in learning any language because without speaking then what is the purpose of learning the language? Language is designed as our principal way of communication. Therefore, I encourage you to book a free trial lesson with me, knowing that I've been in your shoes and I look forward to taking this journey with you. I hope to meet you soon!

Hi guys, my name is John and I was born and raised near Manchester in the U.K. I have been living and working in Asia for over six years now. I love the culture and people in Asia and have decided this is where I belong. I am an easygoing and fun loving person that enjoys meeting and getting to know new people, I really enjoy helping people to achieve their goals and take great pride in my work. I am patient and intuitive when understanding students needs and have a wealth of experience dealing with language learners, both in the classroom and online.
My name is Karolina and I have been teaching English to both children and adults for over 24 years in various countries and organizations. With a great deal of blood, sweat and tears and of course, love, I also built my own online English language training company which had always been a dream and goal of mine. Parallel to that, I joined Verbling 5 years ago and continue to love working here! My love and passion for the English language has been a constant in my life and has over the years developed into a deep interest to help as many language learners reach their learning goals as possible. As an ambassador’s child, I had the privilege and joy of visiting and living in a number of incredible countries and living the life of a nomad! Being born in Switzerland and moving to Canada at the age of 3, English quickly became my native language. My parents, realizing that English would not only be an asset but a necessity growing up in various countries, chose to enroll me in American International schools throughout my school education. I have rich and beautiful memories of growing up in South Africa, Greece and as a young adult moving to Germany and then later The Netherlands. Over the course of these years, my love of the English language only grew and deepened, and at a very young age I embarked on the path that would eventually lead me to where I am today: a teacher who truly loves what she does! As a teenager, I first fell in love with the language through poetry and literature, immersing myself in the beauty of words that I felt could almost magically create new worlds and capture feelings. This led me to my own experimentations with poetry and writing which to this very day are things I enjoy dearly and are very important to me. I was fascinated at how language allowed people to communicate with one another, brought people closer together and managed to bridge incredible gaps. As time went by and I began moving from country to country I also very quickly understood how valuable English was as a language and as a tool. Being the only common language everyone spoke in many of the countries I visited, I realized just how incredibly important it was to have a grasp on the language if I wanted to truly communicate with and understand others. Fast forward twenty years and this is more vital than ever before. In a world led by globalization and one where the international language of commerce is English, having the ability to speak English is truly no longer an asset but rather a necessity. As a young adult in Germany, I came to the realization that I wanted to turn my passion for the English language into a career. From that moment on, I invested my time and energy into attaining my goal of becoming an English teacher. I took my first step by gaining my CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) which then led me to my first teaching positions at language schools in Berlin. Over the years I taught both General and Business English in various companies including Wall Street School of English, Ebay Germany, Jaguar and Thyssenkrupp among others. I soon followed my certificate with an Advanced Diploma in Applied Linguistics and eventually a Masters in Education (Applied Linguistics), solidifying and expanding my knowledge on the foundations of the English language, how it developed over the years and how we can as teachers successfully help others learn the language. I continue to further educate myself at every opportunity, most recently completing the “Foundations of Virtual Instruction” course through the University of California. I realize that the face of education is rapidly changing and moving ever more towards online learning; more accessible and flexible learning. It is a trend that I believe will continue to develop over time, which is why I chose to focus on expanding my online teaching career. The other equally important reason for moving into online teaching was my interest in and desire to work with people from around the globe- what an incredible opportunity! Finally, I find myself after many years back in Greece realizing my long-term dream of starting my own business where I can share with others my knowledge of and passion for the English language. Nothing brings me more joy and fulfilment than helping others attain their language learning goals and supporting them through the often challenging but always exciting path of learning a new language. I always strive to make each students’ learning experience a unique one; one filled with support, patience and encouragement. I have had the fortune of working with truly wonderful individuals who have inspired me and continue to inspire me, and who remind me- though I never need reminding!-just why I became an English teacher. I hope that we will have the opportunity to meet and work together very soon. Sincerely, Karolina Thomoglou PLEASE NOTE: Last minute and same day cancellations will NOT be refunded unless there is an emergency situation. If you book a lesson and believe you won't be able to make it- please unschedule or reschedule it as soon as possible. Teacher will wait up to 15 minutes before opening the hour to other students. There are no refunds for missed lessons- if you think you will not make it in time- please inform me so that I may reschedule our lesson.

I am a native English speaker with 16 years experience teaching English as a foreign language. During my teaching career, I have taught hundreds of private students and currently have a number of students, aged from 3 years to adult, including teenagers preparing for examinations required for entry to university. In addition to this I have worked in several private academies where the students have been of all ages and many working towards cambridge exams PET, FCE and CAE. Whilst working at Isabell International School in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, I was solely responsible for every aspect with the English Department. During the summer months over the last six years, I have worked at several Summer Schools as part of the teaching team. I have been teaching English online for the last 6 months. I like to use a variety of resources including course books and online interactive materials. Some adults have required everyday conversation and these sessions, based on dialogue and role-play, have been tailor made to their individual needs. I have also taught several groups of Chinese students in Almunecar, Spain, and these classes were geared specifically to the restaurant business. I value highly the elicitation of answers rather than rote learning. I believe in the importance of making each lesson interesting, varied and fun, while ensuring that the basic language skills: speaking; listening; reading; writing, as well as: grammar; vocabulary; pronunciation are covered. I am an independent, hardworking and reflective person who enjoys a challenge. I use my initiative when teaching to enable me to be flexible and adaptable. I am friendly and approachable and this enables me to communicate effectively with both my peers and with students. I believe that humour is a great tool in the teaching and learning process. I take a great interest in people which allows me to be open and this encourages openness in return, allowing the teaching and learning process to be successful. In 2002, I carried out an intensive one month CELTA course, at Sussex Downs College, Eastbourne, and gained a distinction. In addition to this I hold a first class Bachelor of Science Degree. Having lived in Spain for 16 years, I am a competent Spanish speaker.
