Aloha! My name is Malia and I'm a native English tutor from the United States. I was born and raised in the beautiful islands of Hawaii, but I've traveled all over the world (40 countries and counting) and I've studied many languages during my travels, including Japanese, French, Spanish and Turkish. I received my CELTA certificate to teach English to adults and I've taught in language schools, private schools and universities, as well as individual students and executives looking to improve their general or business English. In the business world, I have personal experience working in a variety of fields: retail sales and management, operations, human resources, accounting, legal, communications/PR and as an Executive Assistant to the CEO of a nonprofit. I specialize in conversation classes to improve your fluency and expand your vocabulary. I believe that the best way to learn a language is through topics that are engaging and fun so we will often work from material relating to your interests or hobbies, emails or situations from your work, role plays you might encounter traveling, videos like TED Talks, or from topics in the news. If you've got a job interview or work presentation coming up, I'm happy to help you prepare and practice for it. Although you will get some corrections while speaking during class, I find that it's usually best to focus on error correction at the end of a session, so that it doesn't hinder your fluency. My goal is to help you to become confident and comfortable using English in your everyday life. I'm looking forward to meeting you! =)
Hi, my name is Andy, and I have been teaching languages since 2001. I have worked in different countries with students from different nationalities, that´s why I love learning languages to be able to help and understand better my students. I have taught students of all ages and levels. I have to confess that I enjoy teaching beginners and see their progress until they are able to communicate in the new language. I also learn languages, so I know that what a language student wants is to be able to speak and understand the new language, that´s why my classes are based on speaking, that means, from the very first class you will be speaking and I will be giving you the instructions in the language you are learning, that´s the best part of the class, and I really enjoy making my best so that you can understand and speak in the new language. I also understand that there are some students that prefer to receive some explanation in their own languages, so that´s why I speak English, Portuguese, Spanish, German and I´m doing my best to improve rapidly my French. After French I will keep learning some other languages to be able to help even more students around the world. Besides focusing on speaking I also prefer teaching in an organized way, that means by levels. So during our first class I check your level and I get informed about what you are looking for. And from there we plan what we will learn and how our classes will be organized, so you will always know during the months, in what level you are and if for any reason you have to stop our classes, when you return to study with me or any other teacher you will know exactly where to continue. If you are an intermediate or advanced student we can go on progressing and also improving those small (or big) mistakes that for sure you are trying to get rid off. I am really excited to meet you and help you in a professional way to reach your goal! *ATTENDANCE POLICY* The following scenarios will lead to VERBLING credits being transferred to the teacher: - No shows - A request to reschedule less than 12 hours in advance of a lesson's start time *POLITICA DE NÃO COMPARECIMENTO & REMARCAÇÃO DE AULAS* Nas seguintes situações, os créditos do VERBLING serão transferidos ao professor: - Não comparecimento - Pedido de remarcação com menos de 12 horas antes do horário da aula.

Hi, my name's Art, I started teaching ESL 34 years ago in Salamanca Spain, then continued part-time while also teaching Spanish as a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University where I received an M.A. in Hispanic Literature in 1988. I left another career about 8 years ago when my Venezuelan wife and I moved back to her home country, and there I also happily returned to my first career of teaching ESL. I began teaching there at the university level at the Universidad Arturo Michelena, but then realized I felt called to tutoring one student at a time. In March, at the urging of the US embassy in Venezuela, my wife and I returned to the USA. The good news for students is that we have 100-122 Mega speed internet so the audio and video are of excellent quality! ---Many of my students were/are preparing for TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge, NATO, or Trinity exams etc. so I have experience helping there. I got to module 3 of 5 with the ICAL TEFL institute based in London for certification in TEFL, but then realized that those courses are aimed primarily at classroom teaching methods, and have little relevance to one-on-one tutoring. If you want to know my qualifications, I suggest reading the comments of my students. They are the best judges of tutor quality. If you need help with exam preparation, CV editing, job interviews, pronunciation, presentations, etc. I'd be glad to help. Best of luck to you in your English studies, and remember never get discouraged. The key is hard work, and lots of patience and determination. Cheers!
Hello, I'm Steven and I'm from Manchester, UK. I have a Master's degree from Cambridge University and CELTA English teaching qualification. I have thousands of hours of English teaching experience since 2012. I first taught in Japan and then Spain and now teach online. I like to focus on natural, real English and the advanced grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation that you will need to speak at a high level. My teaching style is to create unique lessons, exercises and homework for you to target your weaknesses so you improve as quickly and efficiently as possible. Having fun is extremely important so I aim to have natural conversations about topics that you and I both find interesting. After the lesson I will give you personalised notes to work on your weaknesses. I'll give you homework on these topics so you improve and don't keep making the same mistakes. I love learning about different cultures which is why I find English teaching so interesting. Please share your culture with me and convince me to visit your home country :) I've been very lucky to be able to travel to lots of countries in Asia and Europe, also America and Uganda. Before teaching English I studied engineering so I can help you with technical or university level English. Feel free to have a trial lesson to see if I can help you bring your English to the next level. Thanks for reading this far. Steven
Hi! My name is Mitch, I am a TESOL certified English tutor, artist, writer and globetrotter! I grew up in South Africa and Namibia but I have been living in Greece for the past 16 years. I have ten years of experience and I have worked with people of all ages and at all levels. I have successfully prepared my students for various exams, including Cambridge, Michigan and IELTS. As an artist I value creativity as a means to language learning. I use flash cards, games and other tricks to get you talking! I treat each student as a unique individual and adjust my teaching technique to your specific level and needs. I have experience as an oral examiner for various Universities including Michigan State and Lancashire University so I know exactly how to prepare you for the oral part of an exam. My lessons are fun, interactive and interesting.
My name is Kat Rogan. I'm from the United States. And I love languages. I have been a professional language trainer for over 14 years. I have been traveling around the world and meeting people from just about every country I can think of. I started teaching English in China in 2006 and have traveled all over the place since that time. And the biggest thing I can say I have learned about myself is, I really love languages and cultures. I spend a lot of time practicing Chinese; and I totally love it. I also love Spanish. Born and raised in the United States, Spanish is my second language. I studied Spanish in high school and university, but I know I need to improve. Though I can understand most what is being said in Spanish, my speaking does need some practice. That's why I know how important it is to keep practicing my speaking ability. Or I could lose it. Though I am not too bad at speaking languages, I do know the feeling of not being able to speak at the level I would like. So I keep trying to learn new methods and systems of learning. And I really like to learn more about people, and their cultures. This is why I love learning languages. And this is also why I really love my job. Kat Rogan Qualifications & Experience My education encompasses a long career as a news reporter and journalist as a Mass Communication student from the University of Utah. I also have a degree in Business Management from Weber State University. My master's education is in Multi-Media Film, MFA. I specialize in all forms of professional communication in business, interviewing, writing, examinations, basic conversation, and kid's phonics training. And I am TEFL certified to teach children. Having been a language trainer and learner for 14 years, I have taught thousands of students from around the world. In my experience, I have developed dedicated lesson planning systems, specifically designed for the student depending on their needs. Interestingly, I have found many ESL students with difficulties reaching their true potential. I have also found traditional models of learning to be rather rigid and outdated for progressive thought in the high-paced technologically-driven communication world we live in today. These issues are very important when it comes to speaking at high levels or high-pressure situations. My system brings together the best learning programs into one comprehensive lesson planning system and is adjustable to each specific need and goal of the learner. Some of my classes have helped my students to pass entry exams, get great jobs, get into great universities, succeed at all levels of speaking, writing, and communication for professional and interpersonal use all while having fun. My classes are fun, and I really love teaching that's why I still do it after all these years. Education 1. BS Business Management/Finance 2. BS Mass Communication/Journalism 3.
