My name is Alex and I'm from York in England. I'm a 32-year old, passionate and hard-working CELTA-qualified English teacher with 4 1/2 years' experience in business and general English in the UK, Germany and Slovakia, and more recently Vietnam, with clients of all ages, levels and backgrounds. Being an open-minded person with many interests, I love to design and prepare very interesting, fun and engaging tailor-made lessons.

I teach with the modern communicative approach allowing the student much time to speak, and time to go through any error correction required. I like to use a variety of materials, and sometimes a core textbook supplemented with other resources for comprehensive practice of language structures. I like to cover reading, speaking, writing, grammar and listening in interactive and fun ways, but with much emphasis on functional language in certain situations, building confidence and fluency.

I was originally motivated to become a teacher as it is not only a very rewarding job, but it also offers me the opportunity to grow and develop personally. This is through not only the cultural exchange, but also getting to know different students and meeting their English needs, while studying/exploring interesting topics. One major passion of mine is travelling and meeting new people, which has seen me travel to many parts of the world such as South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, much of Europe and Scandinavia, the USA and UAE. Furthermore, I am also hugely passionate about cooking, rugby, film and music. Other interests include literature, economics, and reading and discussing many topical and socio-economic issues.
